Vista 64 bit vs. XP
by: Anonymous

I am having the same problem. I have a one year old printer that I couldn't get to install. I have been trying to find a driver for my Canoscan scanner and haven't been successful. If I had been told initially about the potential problems I would encounter I would not have gone with Vista 64 bit or even the 32, but remained with XP.

UNLUCKY
by: Spydah

All I can say is you must be particularly unlucky if none of the peripherals work. I installed Vista x64 a year or so ago. My HP printer didn't work, but that wasn't unexpected, as it was a few years old and I was planning to replace it anyway. The main surprise was the CD burner, which was still able to read discs, but wouldn't do any burning. It cost about $75 to upgrade/replace.

The only lasting annoyance is with my Pinnacle TV card. I use it to watch TV using Windows Media Centre, but much prefer the Pinnacle TV tuner software. They have 64-bit drivers, but no tuner software. They keep saying they are working on its development, but won't give a target date.
