TOPO Install with Vista
by: Anonymous

I installed TOPO but used the compatibility option to let it load as an XP file. It defaults to a folder in Program Files (x86). I had to ignore the TOPO Garmin recommendation to load it in users/public.

To finally get my handheld to operate, I had to upgrade both my 60 CSx and TOPO software. Thanks to the other woruer who recommended the handheld upgrades at Garmin.

ALSO!! TOPO (aka National Geographic) gave me two upgrades to download (4.2.8 and 4.5). Ironically, the first upgrade is not listed on their site anywhere, and that was my problem. Upgrade 4.5 wouldn't load, causing TOPO not to recognize the handheld.

Use the TOPO/National Geographic help sites. They will answer within 24 hours and they solved my problem.

EXCEPT, now I have to keep reloading my handheld settings each time I use the program. Very frustrating, but I hope to figure something out.

Hope this helps.

TOPO help
by: Anonymous

Hi, how did you get topo to run? I can't even get it to go online to finish the setup? It gives me an error message, something about needing a 64-bit setup. Thanks!

try updating your palm though wireless. Only drawback is that you need a wireless router but you probably have one already

TOPO Help
by: Rosa

What hints can you share re: TOPO install? I am totally stymied. Have TOPO 4.0 and use Garmin 60CSx GPS receiver. Vista won't let me upgrade and won't recognize my Garmin. So I can't download/upload routes to TOPO.

I followed advice on NAtional Geographic site to no avail.

Any help will be appreciated.
