Let it be free: Software for Windows Vista

In case you haven't noticed, Vista Girl is cheap.  I admit it freely, but I also love software.  I'm willing to bet even if you aren't cheap you love the giddy thrill of getting something for free.  Freeware for vista was initially slow in coming because of compatibility issues but now freeware for Vista has started to come into it's own.

So we're going to look at my top 5 favorite freewares Vista, compatible so far.

1.  Noto Personal Organizer 1.40

Noto personal organizer is mini application that acts like a planner you can drag around your desktop.  It has customizable designs.  You can highlight events and set alarms.  The tabs let you set views from a day to a month or projects.  In addition it has a calculator and an MP3 player as well.

2.  Display Fusion 1.5.0

The display fusion software allows users who want to run their Vista operating systems on multiple screens.  You can run a variety of different wallpapers on up to three screens, set different hot keys for each screens applications or integrate Flickr for image searching.  It also allows you to move a window from one screen to the next.

3.  C-Cleaner

C-cleaner is an application that helps you to keep your system (read your investment) in it's best possible condition.  It takes care of your:

*Web browser (Internet explorer or fire fox)

*Cookies and temporary cache files

*Clipboard, recycle bin and download manager

*Check disk (ckkdsk), run history and windows log files

4.  Satellite TV for PC Elite

This program lets you watch about 3000 TV channels on your pc.  In this case the software is legal, and you'll never have to pay for cable or satellite again.  You pay one time to use the software, it's not much then after that you have free TV.  It runs in multiple languages, including Spanish, German, French, Italian, Russian and Arabic.

5. Prime Poster 2.0

Prime poster 2.0 lets you make a list of things to help you keep organized.  They say that its made for shopping lists, but I've found that you can use it for just about any kind of list.

That's the top 5.  Of course since we're talking about freeware we should talk about FireFox, a great free web browser with lots of plug-in options.  It's Vista girl's personal browser of choice.

Finally I'm going to throw in one silly freeware: Subliminal Messages Flash 3.6.  This software claims to help you solve your life problems (like quitting smoking or making more money) by on flashing subliminal messages on your screen.  You have to pay to unlock the software after the 1st seven uses of it.

That's the top 5, with a few bonuses thrown in the mix.  Vista girl always loves hearing about new freeware, so if you know about one you think should have made the list or that's just a lot of fun, then speak up and share.  That's what the comments field is for!
