Internet Explorer 7 System Requirements

This article or section contains information about a program that is under development. It is likely to contain information of a speculative nature, and the content may change dramatically as the software release approaches and more information becomes available.

Internet Explorer 7 is not yet out so there are no published versions of the system requirements for the browser. We don't expect the requirements to vary wildly from those of version 6. As a reminder, here are the older requirements for version 6 (SP1). We will update the requirements for 7 as they are published.

The recommended system configuration to use Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), or Microsoft Windows NT? on a computer running with a Pentium III processor and 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM.

The minimum requirements your computer needs to run Internet Explorer 6 SP1 are listed below. Additional system requirements are not required when running Windows XP. Some components may require additional system resources not outlined below.

Note: Internet Explorer 6 SP1 setup installs the majority of its files on the drive where the Windows operating system is installed, regardless of the installation location you choose. To free up space on your hard disk in order to meet disk-space installation requirements, do so on the drive where the Windows operating system is installed.
