The Club

August 25, 2007 - Been following out reports on The Club? Let's say you haven't and get the summary out of the way right quick.

This third-person shooter from SEGA is all about quick bursts of arcadey action. In the game, some rich folks like to see people die, so they sponsor this crazy slaying organization. You'll choose one of eight characters, one of eight levels and then one of a handful of challenges that relate to the kill-or-be-killed sport you've signed up for.

You'll be unleashed on a level and ordered to kill as many of the inhabitants as you can. When you finish the challenge -- most are only a few minutes long -- your score is logged and you can try other challenges, try to break your score or grab another character.

Everyone up to speed? Good. We've been following The Club for awhile -- and it seems like a lot of fun -- but we're getting sick of saying the same thing over and over. When will news come?

Uh, today.

Count the shells, suck-a-duck.

That's right. After a closed-door meeting with SEGA, we have details on all eight of the fight clubbers you'll be using to blow up busses and pull off nifty headshots.

Finn - Speed 3, Strength 3, Stamina 4
When Bizarre Creations started hatching out characters, Finn was supposed to be the pretty boy. Then, they got sick of that idea. Now, Finn's covered in cuts, bruises and bandages. A gambler by trade, Finn's got to fight to pay off the mafia.

Dragov - Speed 1, Strength 5, Stamina 4
If you've been following our previews, you already know about Dragov. A Russian badass, Dragov busted out of prison and has been on the run ever since. One of the rich folk sponsoring the fighting organization found out about all of this, and has arranged a back-room deal: if Dragov fights and wins, he'll get his freedom back.

Murder was the case that they gave Nemo.

Renwick - Speed 4, Strength 3, Stamina 3
Here's another IGN favorite. Renwick is a former police officer hell-bent on bringing the club down. He tried to investigate it legitimately, but the police wouldn't have it. When he went to the press, bribery charges appeared against him. Now on his own, Renwick has joined the group to take it down from the inside.

Killen - Speed 3, Strength 4, Stamina 3
We didn't get too much info on Killen. We know that he's a former club champion, and now, he's back to get to the top again.
