Now I've not really been a Windows Media player fan (I prefer WinDVD my self) but I'll walk you through the features and functionality of the new version.
First, it looks different...

A nice new glossy look..
Lets walk through the menus...

The now playing menu is pretty standard. Similar to Windows Media Player 10.

The Library menu is interesting. You should notice the new media choices and options. I particularly thought the recorded TV bit was cool. In addition, you can share your media, add to the library etc etc..

The rip menu is obviously for "ripping" or extracting information off of discs (CD, DVD etc). You can play around with the format and/or the bit rate here.

The burn menu deals with the different options you have for burning discs... straight forward..

The sync menu enables you to synchronize your media with an external device a la Itunes. I'll withhold my comments for a subsequent article..
Then we get to URGE.
This is what Microsoft says about URGE
Logging in to URGE follows this sequence..

Go to the URGE menu item...

You hit I accept

The URGE components begin to download...

You get asked if you want to run this software...hit run..

You then get the Windows Media Player is being upgraded message...

Then you get to the login screen....
It's basically the Itunes imitation..
You have to register and create an account...
Enjoy
