| Windows Vista Software Reviews
With so many programs available and so much you want to
do with your PC everyday, you must ask yourself from time to
time, "How can I make my PC run a little faster?"
With many options out there I tried Uniblue's SpeedUpMyPC 2009 to see how it helped my PC with little work. This product is designed for Windows users and comes from a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, meaning you get a product from people very familiar with the Windows operating system.
The entire process starts with a free, instant scan of your machine. This initial scan is designed to detect if you are running anything that does not need to be running constantly or if there are any malicious background processes working their way through your machine.
One of the biggest problems on machines running Windows is the large number of background processes running constantly along with whatever is running in the foreground. The Windows operating system often has trouble doing all these multiple things at the same time.
Using SpeedUpMyPC, I was able to free up some of my
memory by isolating these unnecessary processes and letting
them rest or even shutting them down altogether until they
are needed again.
The malicious background processes are another problem.
These are processes that are set up to cause harm to your PC or perhaps to seek out vital information that will help a hacker cheat you out of something or steal your identity.
While the best offense here is a good defense (e.g. firewalls, password protections, virus software, etc.) SpeedUpMyPC can help to find these processes and restrict or delete them.
A key feature of most speed enhancing software is the ability to analyze the hardware on your PC and see how it can function more efficiently.
In order to utilize the power of this function, the Memory Monitor part of SpeedUpMyPC comes into play.
With so much riding on your RAM (Random Access Memory), you need to know how well that is functioning and what programs are taking the most advantage of it.
SpeedUpMyPC finds the biggest memory hog and informs you accordingly.
It really is the clarity of information that is SpeedUpMyPC’s strong suit. The maker's of SpeedUpMyPC, Uniblue, have won various awards for their products in the past from such prestigious groups as CNET and TuCows.
Bottom line:
SpeedUpMyPC 2009 is a decent effort at cleaning out the cobwebs in your version of Windows Vista. It should get your computer moving faster than it is today and worked well compared to other software I have reviewed.
