Microsoft Windows Vista (Longhorn) Truetype Fonts

After Georgia, Verdana, Tahoma, Trebuchet MS and Tunga (along with many more) Microsoft comes up with six new fonts, bundled with the long awaited Windows XP successor Windows Vista (Longhorn).

Calibri, Cambria, Candara, Consolas, Constantia & Corbel seem to be very similar to the Lucida Family used by Apple for Mac OS X. On this page you will find samples for the six new MS Truetypes.

The first example will use the font, if available on your machine. The next three are highres PNG images showing the font in different sizes, so that you can see how readable it is.

Lastly you find a longish article using the fonts to give you an impression of how they will look like in your environment.

Calibri

Calibri seems to be a headline font like Arial or Trebuchet MS.

Cambria

Possible replacement for Georgia? Maybe a bit clunkier than that.

Candara

Very nice font. Looks great in small sizes and makes for nice heading, too.

Consolas

Courier still seems to be the nicest monospaced font.

Constantia

Constantia.Doesn't look too good on the screen and printed. May find it fans anyway.

 

Corbel

Definitely a very good font, very much like Verdana.
