Still need help

I am trying to burn a DVD from a avi or xvid file. I download the file and go to burn the DVD as a movie. When I play the file on the pc it appears to be in 16:9.

Format 16:9 pictures

you didn't say if is a video or photo...if your video is in 4:3 or photo in 4:3 then you can't stretch your pictures to 16:9...unless you have a new video camera or digital camera that will work in 16:9 format.
