AVG 8.0 COMPATIBILITY with Windows Vista

I have Vista on my laptop and was using AVG 7.5 anti-virus which worked great, then I upgraded to AVG 8.0 and my windows media player was disabled and my control would come up but was blank, restoring old settings gets the control panel back and media player,but now there is a pop up message of Windows host process has ended and was closed.

How can this be fixed?
