Windows Vista Update

bad MS updates?

I recently purchased a Dell S1535 laptop with Vista x64 installed.

All was fine until I ran the Microsoft update for their product. There were a couple of dozen updates rated "important."

I never got the windows OS to boot up after that unless I returned to earlier installs. Finally, about half-way through the process of installing the updates in small bunches, the OS lost the record of all the update histories.

I am returning the laptop to Best Buy for a different 32 bit OS. This occurred on Oct 12, 2008.
