Windows Vista Update

I have a Acer laptop with Vista, under a year old and I can not get it to reload, or go back to it's original state, or anything.

Verizon says it is my software and when i get it online or explorer back up, then call them so they can reconfigure the modem??

I am very upset and need my computer. I really dislike Vista.
