I don't use word, so I really can't properly answer your question.

If you can install Microsoft Office or just Ms Word on Vista 64-bit, then there should be no problem running Word.doc on Windows Vista 64-bit.

P. S. I just read where most future applications will be designed to run Windows 7 64-bit, so look for more compatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows.
