frustrations with Windows Vista

when I try to record music the volume is really low or not there at all, even though it is being registered and when i play it back it is at regular volume.

This is impractical and a nuisance. I know macs don't do this,I regret getting a PC, it is not media friendly, and the fan is to loud and creates to much interference.

Over all, beyond being a Type writer and a internet surfing mechanism, vista is so far useless.
