Windows Vista Update

having trouble opening internet explorer in windows vista

Up to a few months ago, I was able to open my pc and go to internet explorer and my default site of "hotmail".

Now i'm having trouble with it. I click on it and most of the times it doesn't open..I get a message "not responding".

I downloaded mozilla firefox and can access my hotmail account from there, but there are some things I can't do with Mozilla.

How can I fix it so that I can go directly to my Internet Explorer and be connected to my hotmail directly as before.
