Don't need to spend money...

Other than shipping costs, call Microsoft and they'll send you the 64-bit install for your 32-bit copy of vista free of charge.

Vista effectively does replace 32bit with 64bits as all companies who want Microsoft's seal of approval on hardware or software are required to work in 64-bits as well as 32-bits.

It's time, go ahead and make the switch.

Everything works fine in 64 bit...MS won't certify drivers for 32 bit until 64 bit has passed. I am using 64 bit now...both of those are NOT an issue. You may run into problems with older scanners, printers, webcams, etc. Just check for drivers first at the web sites of the vendors of those items. If you do it, consider 2 more gigs of RAM, it is cheap.

re 64 bit Vista
by: Michael Taylor

I have this installed, motherboard drivers would not work but managed to download update from Asus's web site. Kodak web cam no longer sopported as obsolete, scanner drivers not available. The main bug bear I have is with the WinTV card. Channels are scanned in Vista but the EPG does not work and the card hangs up using the Windows program. Latest drivers downloaded at Hauppage's web site. At present I have no signal from the aerial, must check the lead!
