I do not know a single person with Vista who is happy with it.
Microsoft forgets that most of us out here do not have the time/expertise to service our own machines, and all these forums and little fixes don't work for most of us because we do not have an IT background.
We do not share the same vocabulary so many of us do not have a CLUE how to go about the fixes advised. Most of the time, we end up restoring our computer and lose everything, because those of us who have the simpler Vista versions have no way to back up.
Of course, you can always buy a back-up program and Vista plays hell with that too.
I had to purchase Access 2007, because Vista would not recognize my previous version and Vista constantly fights with Access 2007, resetting some of the features and making it unstable.
I never know what I am going to see when I turn on this computer in the morning.
I HATE HATE HATE Vista and wish I could get XP for this machine, but my boss says no. HE, btw, has XP.
After multiple fixes and safety patches, XP rans my old machine perfectly but alas, it died and I had to get a new one.
If I had my choice, I would go back to MacIntosh. I never had these problems with Mac--I now spend half my time trying to fix my computer and those of the Vista victims around here. Microsoft should be ashamed...they have us all at gunpoint.
What a bunch of garbage this announcement is when there are so many businesses out there that use XP for so many applications. This move forces buyers to purchase the version of software that MS wants, not what is compatible with our businesses--I had to buy several pieces of new software when I got my new computer, and even some of that has compatibility problems.
And some of the database services we all use in the hospitality business will not run on Vista so our businesses are truly harmed.
MS has a monopoly and should be prosecuted for it.
