My Computer with Windows Vista Suddenly Shuts Down

My HP computer with Windows Vista was fine a few months ago. But lately, I'll either be chatting online with friends or playing a PC game and the computer will just suddenly turn off.
No warning messages. Nothing. It just shuts down. What's going on and what can I do to fix this?? (Should I just convert back to XP??)
