My Toshiba just crashed

My Toshiba just crashed and it has to be the Vista operating system. It is so frustrating.
It was giving me signs that all was not well. I would go into my e-mail and when I would log out of e-mail and go back to the home page, the machine would stall. You would be given two options:
1) continue and allow the machine to creep along at a snail's pace (you would expect better performance out of a 3GB/320GB machine)
or 2)start all over again and begin a never-ending cycle informing you of these same two available options.
While at the repair where Toshiba directed me to take my ailing laptop, the very next customer in line comes in with another Toshiba that has gone belly up. Please fix this problem.
I still have multiple copies of XP that I would be glad to put on the machine.
It seems that Microsoft would want to work out the kinks and bugs before shoving this stuff off to the unsuspecting public.
You don't buy a new computer to only get 1 1/2 months of good service and 2 1/2 months of subpar service and then BOOM! Off to crash city.
My previous laptop was a Dell and both of my daughters own HP's.
Unless this situation is rectified quickly, I would have a hard time recommending Toshiba to anybody else.
