I really not having problems with windows vista basic, & I like using it.
1. I did not receive the Microsoft word processing, but my room mate did get the Microsoft works with word processing with his lap top with window vista basic. I had to download & buy a software for word processing.
2. I have windows update set to update everyday. A few months ago, the updates started to fail to install. On Dec 28, 2007 I finally got my computer to do 23 windows vista updates.
3. Windows is forcing us to have to buy software the were included with the windows XP. Also they keep pushing me to buy their office software, which I do not use most of it.
I feel that it could save them mony of always offering these software with windows vista, that if they offered it once and if the window vista user stated NO THANKS, that it should not be offered to that user again unless the user asked for it.
This would keep the hard drive and other aras of the computer freed up for the user to be able to use for other things.
4. When I have problems with windows vista, I did contact the maker of my computer, and they went as far as they could go with windows vista, and they told me to contact microsoft, but when I did, microsoft wanted to charge me for help.
I feel that if windows are saying that their products are good, THEN THEY SHOULD BACK their products to us consumers at no cost.
I am on a Veterans disability pay of limited income, & I can not afford to have to be charged for having Microsoft windows, when I know that the bugs are still being worked out of their new software, such as having to configure their drivers to accept my printer, cam, .......
I have to buy a new mic, cam, printer in order for vista to accept it, and because of this, I have to go into paint in order to scan from my new HP printer (I am not able to scan from the printer.
I have been with HP tech support 5 times to get this resolved and they also told me that I had to contact Microsoft with this problem.
