I built a new computer at the same time that VISTA was released and I made sure that the processor supported 64 bit processing (most do now) and I installed VISTA Ultimate x64.
A year and 3 months later I have nothing but praise.
In fact, I haven't had any of the problems that so many others post about in regards to VISTA, and I suspect that some of that may be due to me using the 64bit version.
For one, so many people complain about speed, and even though I am only using 1GB memory, my system has been quite fast. Second, my system has been more stable than any other OS I've ever installed.
Sure, XP and Windows 2000 were both right up there, but with both I did have some stability issues, especially in the first couple of months after installing, and then again at the end of their life cycles (probably due to registry corruption, or hardware issues such as bad memory, etc.).
Anyway, so far VISTA Ultimate x64 has been great.
I recommend it highly to others.
