Taskbar screw ups

by Pradhyumna
(UK)

I bought a Dell XPS laptop and was happy with Vista up until recently. I have started seeing this problem only after I have got my internet connection.

If I lock my system and step away for a while(until the system enters sleep mode, default value for the time) and login again I see that all of my minimised windows have shifted to the left pushing the Quick launch away.

Its almost like the minimized windows are trying to get out of the screen. I can see the Start button and one of the Windows behind it. I cant maximize any of the windows properly as I cant see which one is which. Also in addition the right hand side of the taskbar is invisible and i can only see a grey patch.

In addition to this the icons of the various programs on my desktop get mixed up and the system becomes unresponsive BUT if I use alt-tab and open any minimized windows I can resume my unfinished work.

In this situation I cant access the Task Manager nor Refresh my desktop. I have to restart the system every single time.

This is getting frustrating.

I changed the windows Power options so that even when the system is idle it will not go into Sleep mode. This seems to have resolved the issue somewhat but is still intermittent.

Anyone faced this issue and has anything of this sort been rectified in SP1?
