The Home Network
by Dan Fisher

Wireless home networks are so commonplace, that anyone who owns more than one computer usually has one. Setting up a basic wireless or combination wired/wireless is usually a simple task. Problems usually develop when you have to work around a particular program, and set up the port forwarding on the router and firewall. Do a search on setting up "port forwarding", and see how many results come up. The problem starts when you read these tutorials. They are written by techno-geeks, who has no compassion or empathy for the newbie or novice. Personally, I had hired a local network "expert", who came out to my house to setup my port forwarding problem. After three hours, he gave up, and only charged me for gas money. If a "network specialist" gives up, where does this leave a home end user?
