Vista and connecting to Wireless Networks

by Anthony McAndrew
(Stratford, PEI, Canada)

Windows Vista has lots of room to improve. One area that I noticed from my personal experience is the Wireless Network setups. You have to go in circles before you can get to the quick an easy way of adding the WEP key to a network you are finding already. If you know the user name and password and it is not secured, you can login straight away. But if you need to configure the Encryption code, you had to go in and create a whole new Wireless Network. What is also frustrating, is that types of Encryptions that there are is not using the same language descriptions in Vista compared to most Routers. Which means you have to try out a few before you hit the right one.

What I suggest is a why to connect to the network that is showing up and be able to add the Encryption key right at that point. Otherwise, I really like my Vista that I have.
