Does anyone prefer Vista? This could seem to be the common question evolving in the minds of the last generation of computer literate.
Every article I have read personally directs attention to the new Vista user reverting to Windows XP until Vista is bug free and more people friendly.
Recommendations to steer clear of the Vista debacle are rampant, and is there a basis to this? Is Vista really too terrible to be useful to the common man or in todays workplace?
There are pros and cons to Vista, and I believe some particular notables which should be mentioned to give anyone considering upgrading to a version of Vista a true and unbiased opinion of what to expect.
Vista has some great color schemes! These are clear, and very tantalizing to the eye, but is this worth the risk of losing your work due to exploror.exe crashing because you decided to delete a desktop icon?
Windows XP is clearly much more stable, and crashes about 1% the rate Vista Home Premium does by experience. Windows XP is much faster in the start menu response, and is literally faster in almost every aspect.
Vista has new features, such as Cascade in the Quicklaunch bar, which cascades every open window in explorer, and also has a nice crisp feel to the desktop.
This can be noted to the point of users creating XP themes to resemble Vista which mimic Vista's beautiful user interface without the bugs of the early years.
I myself have experienced crash bug after crash bug with explorer.exe and the sidebar, yet continue to indulge the new realm of the Vista universe.
The next generation, bugs or no bugs, will inevitably be Vista users due to security upgrades, and the inevitability of XP reaching the end of it's usefulness.
Although, we love XP, Vista will overtake this, and continue it's march onward into the future of the software industry and leave XP in the dust.
My solution.. DUAL BOOT. I can enjoy vista to have the new feel of Microsoft's latest creation at my fingertips, and still retain the reliability and confidence obtained over the last 7 years I have come to love with XP.
Vista is a beautiful adventure into the future of PC's, but MAC definitely has it's foot in the door.
One of my main issues with Vista is the Administrative privelages. I cannot or delete several things in my computer because Vista will not allow it. This is My COMPUTER! I should have full control of the Operating system.
I am frustrated by this constantly, and I am ending this article.
