Windows Vista Update

vista can not connect to shared printer

I have a desktop XP with attached printer (HP PSC 750) that I enabled sharing for. I have a vista wireless laptop that I want to be able to print from. I also have linksys wireless router. The laptop (vista) can not find the printer UNLESS I search for it using the \\computername\printername format.

It then sees it but it will not connect for the following reason: "print spooler is disabled". But it isnt. All printer related services on BOTH machines are enabled and started.

I have stopped and restarted and rebooted but nothing helps. Can anyone help with this? Thanks in advance.
