vista doesnt work; should i retry dual boot or just delete the whole darn thing

by claire frances
(rangsit, thailand)

Hello: have read online many entries about DV6000 Pavilion laptops and problems with Windows Vista; unfortunately

1) I am in Thailand and they do NOT service this computer HP - and HP wont pay to return and

2) already tried to dual boot with Windows XP and almsot lost the computer completely;

did something with Kernels and now it at least works but still having too many problems to validate continued use of Vista (home premium 34-bit)...

Okay Question: Is it better to completely delete Vista and install XP (read somewhere that xp wont work alone with pre-installed laptops of HP dv6000 models well); or should I retry to dual boot.

There is a download that I can use am told called dotnetfx.exe which allows for a PRO reboot after partitioning with XP - from Vista or XP (forget which wont boot first) which is not usually functional (similar problem happened last time I tried partitioning; even with an external boot assist program).

I used BCD 1.71 which helped tremendously to troubleshoot/fix the problems after the partitioning; and subsequent deletion of XP.

Honestly, Vista is not worth it to me until it is more suited to the novice users like me who can only use tweak software and know little about Bios, and don't want to fish out franks for new reinstall software; also for instance the system restore didn't work for the first 2 weeks of laptop use.

okay, your advise is more than welcome...thanks.
