80070490

I've been trying for about six months to get my system error code 80070490 corrected, without any luck. My laptop was purchased with Vista installed and I have no disc. Microsoft techs were no help, although they did try to email me some instructions, which I followed to the letter, they failed to help. I guess this is the end of Windows for me and on to the big APPLE! Although they are expensive, in the long run, considering my time in trying to sort out these types of problems, an Apple my turn out to be quite economical. If anyone finds a fix, please post it! Thanks.

Be Fuddle me or Windows
by: Hmmmmm

After reading various comments about error 80070490...my computer is a mess after downloading MS SP2,or trying. WINDOWS/MICROSOFT PERSONNEL...easy fix...just get rid of this update until YOU can FIX your problem. Payed to much for my computer for your trouble shooters not to know or do nothing about YOUR problem. At the most state consequences with possible update downloads that might be causing this error!

Vista Error Code 80070490 - How do I fix it ?
by: Anonymous

I am having exactly the same problem. Is it a concidnece this is all happening around the same time? I am not a computer expert either but could it be virus related or another update that has caused system instability? It started off as this error and got progressively worse, starting to disable all sorts of drives (including display drivers). I too was told to restore the system which did not work so had to reload and have lost all of my files and personal data/photos as a result. Getting progressively annoyed that there is not even an acknowledgement of what appears to be a fundamental flaw in the operating system. MICROSOFT SORT THIS OUT!!!!!!!! AND COMMUNICATE A RESULT TO EVERYONE WHO HAS PURCHASED THIS UNSTABLE SOFTWARE.

I too have the same problem. How can MS expect everyone that runs into this problem to re-install Vista. Why can't they release a patch that you can download from their website to replace the update files or whatever is messng up. I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this issue with no luck. Hopefully someone at MS will read this and think that I had a good idea about the patch. HINT HINT HINT

Windows Update problems
by: Anonymous

I have also been unable to resolve this problem despite around 15 attempts by Microsoft.
It is also very annoying that there is no recognition of the problem on the Windows site. They finally suggested that I reinstall Vista as there may be corrupted system files. As Vista came pre-installed on my computer they say that I should contact the system manufacturer rather than the Main Microsoft Helpline.
I a no computer expert but cannot see why they cannot produce a workaround to avoid the unhelpful automatice Update process.
