I bought a new Dell computer. Nice lil piece of equipment. 2gig core 2 duo proc, 120G HD, 2GB ram, nVidia 256MB graphics card, etc ... a real nice machine.
It came with vista installed on it by factory. To say that it ran slower than my 1.7 gig Hz, single proc centrino system with half the ram and half the vid card would be an understatement. Start up time was no longer counter in seconds, out of box, mind you.
We are talking MINUTES! You are trying to run program X, cancel or allow. ? Yea, convenience. You want to watch a movie, please wait several minutes while we figure out if you can bypass the DRM on your system. Media player takes FOREVER just to start, forget hitting the play button.
This is, by the way, just written as I think of the many ways Vista has so far pissed me off. No real order, but then Vista makes no real sense. Expensive? I made Dell refund the portion of the system's cost that pertains to Vista.
I am NOT paying for something THIS sorry. Ah, my system runs so nice with XP on it. 24 second start up, media player classic runs in just 1 second. No annoying popups asking if I want to run the program I just double clicked. And it is BLAZING fast.
And best of all, Kubuntu Linux runs very nicely in the partition that Vista had been sucking up. Faster even than XP. I love it. Bottom line, Vista is a power vampire. Microsoft, Where Will We Let You Go Today? And, just cause I read the agreement a second ago, I feel this will get rejected.
M$ doesn't like people rightfully bashing their products. :)
