Windows Explorer In Vista Keeps Restarting

by m1

I tried downloading .flv files to my Windows Vista Home Premium desktop and windows explorer keeps restarting. I had to go to the command prompt and navigate to the desktop in order to delete the file. After that the crash stopped.

I tried downloading them to a folder and got the same result (to which I had to apply the same fix). Since then I tried downloading a .wmv file, and again encountered the same problem.

I've been using Vista a little over seven months now and since the crash occured I am unable to download and view .flv files in particular - I haven't tried d'loading any more .wmvs.

To date, the error reporting feature and windows update haven't done anything to help. N.B. Yes I do have vista sp1 installed; the problem occured before and after.
