Windows Vista 64 Will Not Install Verizon Wireless USB Modem Um150, gets error code 39 on device mgr- how to fix?

I get Windows Code 39 error when trying to install driver software for Verizon USB Modem Pantech UM150 on my new HP HDX18 Notebook PC with Vista-64 bit..

HP says it's not their problem! Verizon says their software is updated but the windows in my HP must have a registry error.

HP still says it's not their responsibility to fix compatibility with my wireless!

So have had this new computer for a month and cannot connect to the internet with it!

I hate HP rude tech support! Does anyone know how to fix this? thanks, JS
