Windows Vista, for me, has NEVER been the problem.

I have been strugling with Vista for Most of it's life. Not because Vista is giving me problems, but because driver updates are, in a word, crap.

I originally got Vista as part of a new system I was building. I bought XP and Vista Busines and had it dual booted. I used Vista with NO problems except for the "Vista designed XFX graphics card".

I bought an XFX motherboard to assure myself all would play nice together. After several months of tearing out my hair, an update arrived that corrected the problem.

I raced along happily enjoying the operating system, and updating as they came available. I came upon an update for the graphics accellerator, and since everything was ok with everything else, I installed it; BIG MISTAKE. Within half and hour, I was thanked with a BSOD! I was unable to reserect the OS afterward. I tried everything written with no success.

After reinstalling Vista and methodically installing all my applications (hour after hour) I was back in business.

I took the unit to my office to use there and all was well until one day, I had a neuron brownout and accidentally installed another graphics update. Low and behold, all hell broke loose (in other words, BSOD). Afterward, no matter how hard I tried, even with Microsoft's help, I was unable to reinstall Vista on that machine.

After talking with Microsoft, I asked them to let me use the copy of the OS on another machine. That worked fine, which is where I'm typing this from today.

For those of you who might suggest trying another graphics card, I did that 3 times with no success.

(I am going to say, "I will never update my graphics drivers ever again" one thousand times, but I will not put you, the reader through that)

THIS IS THE ONLY ISSUE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH VISTA!!!
