Windows Vista Freezes after a USB Flash drive is inserted

I have had a Fujitsu Siemans Amilo Li 1705 laptop for a year and a half now.

Only recently, it began to freeze whenever I inserted a USB flash drive.

The laptop has never done this before.
As soon as I insert a flash drive,the computer freezes.

I also cannot "copy and paste" things using my computer because it also freezes.
The operating system is Windows Vista Home Basic.

Every time it freezes, I have to manually hold down the power button until the computer is off..

Please help me.
