X IBM ENGR. NOW A TEACHER ELECTRONICS COMPUTERS AND MATH

I have been running XP x64 for over 2 years. I received a free 6 month beta ver. from Microsoft then bought the XP x64 OEM version. Minor problems with drivers but nothing major. I like the XP x64 OS a lot. It was much faster then most other home OS and had very minor issues with any virus or adware. Still running XP x64 on my back up system.

Back up sys: AMD DUEL CORE X64 3800, SYSTEM DRIVE 36 GIG SCSI AND 80 GIG SCSI FOR STORAGE, 2 GIG OF DDR2 MEMORY,

About a month ago I started building my primary system. INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q6600, ABIT IP35 PRO MB, SYSTEM DRIVE, WD RAPTOR X 150 MB AND SEAGATE GEN 11 500GB FOR STORAGE.
EVGA 8600 FATALITY DUEL VIDEO CARD, 4 GIG KINGSTON EXTREME 8500 OVER CLOCKED FSB TO 1200. WITH BENQ 24" AND BENQ 19" MONITORS AND A 600 WATT POWER SUPPLY.

I was very concerned by all the reviews and info telling me how bad Vista was (all versions), very few if any reviews had anything good to say about Vista.

But! I went ahead and bought Vista HP 64 bit OEM. It is a great OS. Installed with no problems, runs great and is faster then my 64 bit SCSI system. It loads in about half the time of my other system. Keep in mind my SCSI system must check for 30 possible SCSI devices on boot up.

I have had no problems with the drivers I needed. I run three printers, oki 5200n, brother HL 5420 and hp all in one photo printer. All drivers down loaded and worked from the vendors with out a hitch. All my apps. loaded with no problems like office 2007 and other pretty standard apps. A few free utilities had problem but were easily taken care of or just removed as not necessary.

My only complaint is the Microsoft pop up telling me my account mgr. is turned off.
